12 Jun Year 6 – Creating a baking business!
Following the completion of their SATs, our Year 6 pupils have settled brilliantly into their post-SATs learning and have embraced a range of exciting projects designed to support their transition to secondary school. These activities are helping them develop a deeper understanding of how the skills and knowledge they have gained throughout primary school connect to the wider world.
One of their current projects involves creating their own baking business. Working collaboratively in teams, pupils have developed business names, logos and slogans, designed their cakes and carefully considered pricing by exploring profit and loss. They have also begun preparing persuasive project pitches to showcase their ideas.
Although the project is still ongoing, the work completed so far has demonstrated impressive attention to detail, thoughtful collaboration and a real dedication to combining ideas to achieve the best possible outcome. Most importantly, the pupils have shown great enthusiasm and enjoyment throughout the process. Who knows—perhaps we’ll see some of these businesses on our high-streets in the future!
