08 May Year 6
English
This week in English, Year 6 worked effectively in pairs to generate ideas for a gripping narrative. Their stories focused on a dramatic crash that left the main character stranded, unsure if they would ever be found. Working collaboratively, pupils shared a wide range of creative ideas and discussed what would best build suspense, tension and vivid detail within their writing. They revisited and applied a variety of taught techniques, including: descriptive language, sentence variation and careful structuring, to strengthen their plans. Through this process, our budding authors learned the value of collaboration, recognising that both partners’ ideas can be combined and developed to create a richer final piece. They showed maturity in listening, negotiating and making decisions together about the direction of their narratives. This teamwork supported them in refining their ideas and building confidence in their writing choices. We look forward to reading their polished and imaginative pieces next week.
