22 May Year 5 – Dangers of Vaping
On Tuesday, Year 5 had Arc Theatre Company pay us a visit. The touring theatre group addresses the widespread issue of youth vaping through highly effective, interactive “Forum Theatre” workshops. The project operates with key focus areas and goals: Interactive Drama: Professional actors perform issue-based short plays (such as Not So Sweet) that explore peer pressure, addiction, and consequences. When the scene reaches a conflict, the children stop the actors and takes control of the characters to find positive outcomes. It was very informative and useful, as we bust myths about vaping, cover the law regarding illegal substances, and address the impact of nicotine on young brains and long-term health.
