Dear Parents/Carers,
Spring Term 2026 Newsletter
Dear Parents and Carers,
Statutory Assessments:
Year 1 Phonics
Over the past couple of weeks our Year 1 pupils have been showing off their reading skills during their phonics screen assessment. The children have made so much progress with their reading this year and were keen to share their skills during the assessment.
Thank you to our families who read regularly with their child at home. This really does make a difference to your child’s progress and reading ability. Please remember if you are not a member of our local library that we have Dagenham Heathway on our doorstep. Sign up for their Summer Reading Challenge. Something to keep your child busy over the summer break!
Phonic Screening Check results will be included in your child’s end of year report in July.
Multiplication Tables Check
In Year 4 this half term we have completed the Multiplication Tables Check (MTC). The MTC is important because it assesses how quickly and accurately pupils can recall multiplication facts up to 12 × 12.
Strong multiplication fluency provides a foundation for mathematical reasoning and problem-solving, enabling pupils to tackle more complex concepts with greater confidence and accuracy. Once again we were very proud of the our children and their dedication to learning and recalling their times tables.
MTC results will be included in your child’s end of year report in July.

SAVE THE DATE – Sports Day
Thursday 2nd July
Sports Day is an important part of school life, promoting physical health, teamwork, resilience and enjoyment of physical activity. It provides opportunities for all pupils to challenge themselves, demonstrate determination and celebrate personal achievement. Sports Day also fosters a sense of belonging, school pride and community, bringing together pupils, staff and families to support positive attitudes towards health, wellbeing and lifelong participation in sport.
Once again this year events will include running, jumping, throwing and other activities to improve co-ordination, balance, strength and overall fitness. We will invite families and carers to join us to make the day special. There will of course be the annual staff / parents and carer race. See you there.
