14 Mar Year 6 – World Book Day
Year 6 had a wonderful time last Friday, celebrating World Book Day. We read the book, The Viewer, which is a mysterious story about a boy who finds a strange box at the junkyard. When he returns home, he finds that the box contains lots of different devices for viewing the world. One of the them is similar to a viewmaster and contains discs that show him the history of the world. These images are generally negative, showing wars and famine and destruction. We then created our own viewmaster discs, showing the positive aspects of civilisation. We also wrote our own news reports and performed them. The day finished with a World Book Day assembly, where we shared our activities with the rest of the school.
