26 Sep Year 6 – Trip to the Natural History Museum
This week, Year 6 had the incredible opportunity to visit the Natural History Museum, to support their learning about evolution and inheritance. The children were full of excitement and curiosity, eager to discover more about the fascinating world of evolution, natural selection, and the pioneers who shaped our understanding of it. Throughout the day, the children were well-behaved, showing maturity, respect, and enthusiasm for learning. It was clear from the start that they were captivated by the exhibits, asking thoughtful questions and making excellent observations as they explored the galleries. One of the highlights of the trip was the interactive workshop, where the children delved into the concepts of variation, adaptation, and survival. They worked collaboratively to investigate how certain traits can help organisms thrive in different environments, linking these ideas to the lives and work of Charles Darwin and Mary Anning. The trip sparked a wave of curiosity, with students excited to continue learning back in the classroom. We returned buzzing with questions, ideas, and a renewed appreciation for the natural world. This visit didn’t just support our science curriculum – it brought it to life. Well done to all the children for making it such a fantastic day!
