09 Jan Year 6 – The Circulatory System
What is the circulatory system?
As part of our science topic this term, the children will be exploring the circulatory system. This week, we looked at the heart and where it is located within the human body. We explored what the purpose of the heart is and how important it is to the circulatory system. The children then investigated how our pulse rate changes during different activities such as sitting, standing and laying down. They used their fingers and stethoscopes to locate the pulse on the chest, under the jaw and the wrist and measured the beats per minute for each activity. The children noticed that the number heart beats recorded were different for each child and it fluctuated depending on the activity undertaken.
