This week, the children have been introduced to creating websites for a chosen purpose. They identified what makes a good web page and used the information to design their own website using Google Sites and website alternatives. Throughout the learning, the children have paid specific attention to copyright and the fair use of media, they gained an understanding of why they should only use copyright-free images and will find appropriate images to use in their work from suggested sources. They understood and learned how to search, reuse and reference images under creative commons to enable them to be respectful and responsible online users. Using the plans they created from previous lessons, they were able to begin creating their website taking into consideration the audience, the aesthetics of the site, and navigation paths.
