20 Nov Year 5 – History Detectives!
This week in History, we learnt what life was like in a typical Anglo-Saxon village. We looked at pictures of Anglo-Saxon artefacts, such as combs that were made from bone. We do not know exactly what Anglo-Saxon hairstyles looked like, but we have found many combs so they must have taken care of their hair. We also looked at shoes that were made of leather, probably from a cow’s skin. To make the leather strong, it was covered in dog, chicken and dove dung. Saxon shoes wouldn’t last very long, only a few months, so they usually weren’t decorated or made to look attractive.
