16 Jan Year 5 – Cubed Numbers
In Maths, Year 5 have been investigating cubed numbers. We began by interlocking cubes to make larger cubes. We learnt that a cube number is the result of multiplying a whole number by itself and then by itself again, for example 6 × 6 × 6. We used our previous learning on square numbers, where we recognised that when we multiply a number by itself once, the result is a square number, and so to find the cube of a given number, we can multiply its square by the number itself.
