07 Feb Year 5
In Year 5, we have been learning about the different planets within the solar system. This week, we explored night and day and how they occur on Earth. Using a Torch (to represent the Sun) and globe, the children observed how Earth spins on its axis and when one half of the globe is facing the Sun, it is day and when the other side remains in the shadow, it is night. We then explored how the Earth is tilted, which is why we have different seasons. Did you know that, there is actually 23hrs, 56mins and 4s in a day?
