28 Mar Year 4 – Science
In Science, Year 4 pupils have been discovering the joys and benefits of gardening, all while cultivating valuable skills that will serve them for years to come. On Monday, pupils continued to the next stage of their exciting gardening project that not only taught them the essentials of plant care but also introduced them to the importance of patience, responsibility and the reward of seeing their hard work flourish. Armed with gloves, trowels, spades and a determination to succeed, our keen gardeners: learned how to properly weed our designated garden beds (an essential part of nurturing healthy plants); turned over the soil (in order for improve its aeration and texture and allow the roots of the future plants to grow strong and healthy); and planted their seeds in the freshly prepared beds. For some of our pupils, this was their first real experience with the growing cycle and they are keen to care of their new projects by regularly checking on their plants, watering them and watching as the first signs of growth begin to emerge. This gardening experience is much more than just a school project – it’s a chance for the students to connect with nature, understand the cycle of growth and contribute to a greater sense of community. As they look forward to harvesting and selling their produce, they’ll carry with them the valuable lesson that, just like plants, they too can grow and flourish with the right care and dedication.
