21 Nov Year 1 – On the Move
This week, we had an exciting day celebrating our entry point for our new topic ‘On the Move’. We transformed the hall door into the entrance of a time machine. We went back in time and placed the Year One teachers and some of the children on a timeline, according to when they were born. This really helped to develop the children’s understanding of time and supported their understanding of the concepts ‘youngest’ and ‘eldest’. We then learned about how transport has changed through history. We enjoyed using some of our new gymnastics skills to make different types of transport with our bodies. Finally, we had a special visitor from the past, Wilbur Wright! Wilbur Wright and his brother Orville are credited with flying the first successful aeroplane in 1903. We placed Wilbur and Orville on our timeline.
