26 Jan Year 6 – Natural History Museum
Year 6 children went on an educational visit to the Natural History Museum in South Kensington to explore the fossils used to base the theories of evolution and to enhance their knowledge about the great scientist, Charles Darwin. They were fortunate enough to see many of the fossils discovered by Mary Anning who is a naturalist we learned about in our Science lessons.
During the visit, the children were amazed at the sheer size of some of the skeletons of extinct mammals from the past, including the skeleton of a blue whale, a mammoth and a ground sloth. The experience has left the children with a zest to venture deeper into this topic!
