07 Mar Year 6 DT – Invention Day
As part of a whole school House Challenge, Year 6 focused on inventors and inventions linked to our Spring Term1 Topic: The Future is Bright. Here, we researched inventions linked to promoting healthy lifestyles, looking deeper into why they were invented, who their target audience was and if their inventions were inclusive for all.
Throughout the day, we had the opportunity to work in groups to imitate and improve an existing invention or invent one from scratch. Once discussed, we then drew and labelled our inventions, before presenting them to the other Houses in a Dragon’s Den style interview. Over the half term, we had the opportunity to build our invention using available resources from home, bringing our ideas to life. The next step would be to patent them!
