17 Jan Year 5 – Art inspired by Vincent van Gogh
This week in Art, Year 5 experimented how to create different textures with a range of materials, using different brushstroke techniques practised in previous lessons. We mixed items such as sand, sugar, Rice Krispies, coffee granules, hundreds and thousands, coffee and flour with paint and evaluated which textures created our desired effects best. Once reviewed, we practiced using different paintbrushes (which varied in thickness) to create differed designed, similar to those found in van Gogh’s Starry Night portrait. Though the piece is not finished, we enjoyed experimenting, in order to gain a better insight into how layering can be achieved.
