15 Nov Year 2
This week in history, Year 2 were recapping the events of the Gunpowder plot. We acted out key scenes and thought about character’s emotions.
As king, James I upset both the Puritans and Catholics, but it was the Catholics who acted first. They planned to blow up the Houses of Parliament and the King as he opened the new session on 5th November. The plot was led by wealthy Catholics called Robert Catesby and Thomas Percy. Their initial plan was to tunnel under Parliament but this proved too difficult and dangerous.
