This week for P.E, we have been focusing on passing the ball with accuracy in hockey. Passing is the skill of sending the ball to a target, usually a teammate. It is an attacking skill that a team uses to try and progress up the pitch towards an opponent’s goal. The push pass is the simplest pass to use, we had to use two hands on the hockey stick – Left hand at the top, right hand half-way down the stick. Keep the ball in contact with stick until point of release. Stand sideways on to the target (partner) – at 90 degrees. Stand with feet shoulder width apart, knees slightly bent. Position the ball in front of back foot in contact with the stick. Finally, use a pushing action to pass the ball towards the target (teammate).
