Dear Parents/Carers,
Spring Term 2025 Newsletter – Edition 53
Dear Parents and Carers,
Year 6 SATS
Our Year 6 pupils will sit their SATS tests next week. The Standard Assessments Tests (SATS) provide a snapshot of pupils’ attainment in reading, maths, grammar at the end of Key Stage 2. Year 6 pupils will receive a light breakfast each morning in school to set them up for the day. We wish our wonderful Year 6 pupils’ every success.
VE day (Victory in Europe) celebrations

This week we celebrated the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe better known as VE day! Pupils were invited to wear red, white and blue or dress in appropriate 1940s attire. The day started with a military style training session led by Sailor Aseidu where all pupils and families joined to get the day off to a great start before school opened.
We then transported ourselves back to the 1940s and were then fortunate enough to have some special guests visit us in our assemblies. We welcomed, Sailor Neil, Land Girl, Betty, Lillian, a Wren in the Royal Navy and Joan whose husband had recently left to fight in the war. We had written questions that we wanted to ask and we learnt a great deal about life during World War II from the infamous Battle of Britain to how servicemen and women from all over the world supported Britain in the War effort. We sang Dame Vera Lynn’s ‘We’ll meet again!” and held a two-minute silence to remembered those men and women who served during World War II.
At lunch we held a picnic outdoors and welcomed over 200 parents and carers who joined us on this special occasion to have lunch alongside us.
Thank you to all our parents and carers for supporting us to make this a memorable occasion for the pupils and your wonderful comments about the day!
