Dear Parents/Carers,
Spring Term 2025 Newsletter – Edition 48
Dear Parents and Carers,
Music Festival hosted at Parsloes!

This week we celebrated our musical talents as we were a host school for the Local Authority Primary Music Festival, bringing together 200 talented pupils from schools within the local community. The event was a true celebration of music, as the young performers showcased their incredible vocal skills and stage presence, with their harmonious voices and spirited performances delivering an unforgettable experience for staff and pupils alike. From vibrant group numbers to beautiful solo performances, all schools demonstrated exceptional talent, dedication and teamwork, making the event a resounding success. The energy and enthusiasm of the performers was contagious, leaving everyone in awe of the power of music to bring people together.
Well done to all the pupils in our Parsloes Choir!
Road Safety Assemblies
As part of our PSHE curriculum offer, this week, we were joined by Penny Taberman, our Local Authority Accident Prevention Officer, who delivered an important road safety assembly. She spoke to the children about staying alert near roads, using crossings correctly, and making safe choices when walking or cycling. The pupils listened carefully and took part in discussions about how to keep themselves and others safe.
Penny’s visit reinforced key road safety messages, including the importance of wearing bright clothing in low light, avoiding distractions near roads and always stopping, looking and listening before crossing. A big thank you to Penny for sharing her expertise and helping our pupils become more aware of how to stay safe on their journeys.
Attention and Listening skills with our Speech Therapist – all parents and carers welcome.
Thank you to everyone who came along this week to find out more about how to support your child’s attention and listening skills. Our Speech and Language therapist worked with parents on some simple activities to develop these important skills which will help pupils be able to focus on their learning.
Comic Relief – Red Nose Day
Red Nose Day is a fund raising event organised by Comic Relief. As part of our charitable work at Parsloes we are pleased to inform you that we have raised over £200 today for Comic Relief via our donation buckets. Your donations will support good causes both in the UK and globally.
Musician of the Week
Every week, we learn about a different musician in school, from different time periods, cultures and styles of music. This week we have been listening to the music of Pharrell Williams. Next week we will be listening to music of Nina Simone (Jazz) including Feeling Good.
