Nursery |

Children are assessed through interactions with nursery staff and observations of play. |
Reception |
Within six weeks of starting school, children participate in the Reception Baseline Assessment (RBA). This is a short, interactive and practical assessment of each child’s early literacy, communication, language and mathematical skills.
At the end of the year, the school reports whether each child has achieved a ‘Good Level of Development’ (GLD). Parents informed of the outcome. |

Year 1 |
Phonics screen – each child works individually with a member of staff to read real and ‘alien’ words. Parents informed of the outcome. |
Children are assessed through guided tasks completed with a member of staff.
Termly assessment of writing, maths and phonics.
When they are ready, children take a Star reading test to determine their reading age. |
Year 2 |
Key Stage One SATs – children sit reading and maths tests. Teacher assessment for each child is submitted at the end of the year. Parents informed of the outcome.
Phonics screen re-sits – for children who were not working at the expected level in Year 1. Parents informed of the outcome. |
Children complete a Star reading test to determine their reading age.
Termly assessments of reading, writing, maths and phonics. |
Year 3 |

Year 4 |
Multiplication Table Check – children answer a series of times table questions on the computer to assess their recall of multiplication facts. Parents informed of the outcome. |
