This year’s Black History Month, ‘Saluting our Sisters’, celebrates and recognises the invaluable contributions of black people to British society, in particular black women.
Our House Challenge honored the achievements of four inspiring black women: Dame Jocelyn Barrow, Nicola Adams, Emeli Sandi, Dr Maggi Aderin-Pocock, who have overcome prejudice, lead by example and made changes that effect us all today.
Not only did we have great fun, we celebrated each of these women through art, performance, songwriting and poetry; producing some fantastic work. We also have the exciting opportunity to display a selection of our work at Barking Town Hall as part of the borough celebrations for BHM, from Thursday 19th October to Friday 17th November.
