Dear Parents and Carers,
Happy St. Georges Day
Happy St Georges Day to all our families! Yesterday, 23rd April was St. Georges Day and the children were treated to a special St. Georges Day lunch dessert and will be finding out more about St. George and why he is the patron saint of England in their assembly next week.
Our School Allotment

Healthy lifestyles are an important part of our learning at Parsloes Primary School. One important area of a healthy lifestyle is healthy eating. Our gardening club and eco warriors have taken this very seriously and have started to use our new school allotment. We have planted a range of vegetables including, carrots, tomatoes, beans and sweetcorn. If your child would like to be a part of this exciting project please sign up for Gardening club for next term. We have a limited number of places left for this half term. Please see the office for more information.

Time to Talk with Mr Asiedu
Next week Mr Asiedu will be presenting our Time to Talk which will focus on healthy lifestyles. This will be an opportunity for you to learn alongside your child about maintaining healthy lifestyles. Please do come along next Wednesday 29th April and wait at the KS2 black gate by the school office with your child for a 9am start. We look forward to seeing you there.
Year 4 visit to Hornchurch Country Park
This term, Year 4 are learning about classification keys to help them group and identify animals and plants. To enhance their learning this week they visited the Hornchurch Country Park to find out more. The children were very positive about their experiences and cannot wait to find out more in their science lessons.

Polling Station – Thursday 7th May
Please remember that our school site will be used as a Polling Station on Thursday 7th May. The school will remain open to Year 6 pupils from 8.40 until 12 noon but closed to all other pupils. We apologise for any inconvenience. Please also remember that Monday 4th May is a national bank holiday so the school will be closed.
Attendance Congratulations!
Attendance is an important part of school life. If you child is not in school they miss valuable education and learning. This week I am delighted to report that our attendance for the whole school is 97.7%. Over one per cent higher than the school target and above the national target. Many congratulations to those classes who had 100% attendance this week, they are full time Nursery, Reception – Hedgehog class and Year 5, Owl class.
Please note that if your child has 90% attendance that may sound high but means they have missed 19 days of their education and 100 lessons! Let’s work together to ensure we can offer your child the best education possible. Thank you for your assistance. If you would like to discuss your child’s attendance please feel free to speak to your child’s class teacher or see Mrs Deville.
NEW Bike and Scooter Shed
We have been fortunate to have a brand new bike and scooter shed supplied and fitted by the Local Authority at no charge to the school. This is an incentive to get children biking and scooting to school to develop fitness levels. Please also ensure that bikes and scooters are not used in the school playground at any time as we have had a few couple of near accidents and need to ensure the health and safety of all our pupils.
Save the Date – Look at my learning!
This half term we have our final look at my learning. Working together with our parents is a priority at Parsloes Primary School. On Friday 22nd May we welcome all parents and carers to come along from 2.45pm to look at their child’s learning so far this year. We look forward to seeing you then.
Reminders – Smoking and Vaping
Please note that smoking and vaping are not allowed on the school site at any time in the interests of the health of all.
Farewell to Miss Smikle
Miss Smikle left us this week to start her maternity leave. We wish her the very best and look forward to seeing her new baby very soon.
